WebAssign has issues with Java

WebAssign has currently been having issues with Java, and it can result in an LTI OAuth Error screen. There is a workaround for this issue – located below. If this solution does not work in Chrome or Firefox, please update Java. If that does not work either, you will need to turn down your java security settings to medium (instructions on this are provided below the Chrome and Firefox instructions).  Once you have turned down the settings to medium, please try the workaround again.

For Chrome, you will need to click on the control tool located on the far right upper corner below the close button or x. Next, select new incognito window.

Chrome1

In the new window, you will see this icon (looks like a spy) indicating you are in incognito mode:

Chrome2

Next, login to https://elearning.utdallas.edu/ and go to the course with WebAssign. You should be able to get into it now.

For Firefox, you will need to click on the control tool located on the far right upper corner below the close button or x. Next, select new private window. The private window will have the little mask icon on it (see the picture).

Firefox1

Next, login to https://elearning.utdallas.edu/ and go to the course with WebAssign. You should be able to get into it now.

If the above does not work and you have updated Java, please follow these directions then try the workaround again.

Go to your start menu, type in Java, and find the program called Configure Java.

Config_Java

In the Java Control Panel, go to the Security tab, set the Security level to Medium, and click submit. Your WebAssign should work now. You can also select edit site list and add https://elearning.utdallas.edu/ to it
