Upcoming March 3rd Maintenance Impacting Publisher Tools

This weekend from 11pm March 2nd until 3pm March 3rd, Blackboard will replace hardware at on one of its data centers. eLearning users may experience service interruptions to publisher tools (Partner Cloud) during this time. These publisher tools include Cengage Learning, Macmillan Higher Education, McGraw-Hill, Pearson, and Wiley.  Please contact elearning@utdallas.edu if you have any questions.

 

PLEASE NOTE: This maintenance DOES NOT impact core eLearning functionality (i.e. tests, assignments, discussion boards, etc.).

Campus Firewall Maintenance – Feb.1, 4-7am

OIT has scheduled emergency firewall maintenance on Thursday, February 1st, from 4-7am.  During this time, users may experience brief disruptions in some services, including eLearning.  If you have any questions, please contact the UTD Helpdesk at 972-883-2911 or email assist@utdallas.edu.  Please monitor the OIT Twitter Feed for updates during the maintenance period.

Turnitin Outage

Turnitin is experiencing a service interruption, starting at 5:45am CST, Sept.7. At this time, users are unable to create or submit Turnitin assignments.  Turnitin is investigating the issue. If you have any questions, please contact elearning@utdallas.edu.

eLearning Login Issues

Users are currently unable to login to eLearning at this time. The university’s LDAP (authentication) servers are down. This is also affecting users trying to login to Qualtrics, Box, and other university resources.  OIT knows of the issue, and they are working to resolve this ASAP.  Thank you for your patience.

Faculty Access Issue to U17 eLearning Courses

Yesterday evening (June 12) at approximately 6:10pm, Summer 2017 courses became unavailable to faculty in eLearning. Our technical group immediately began working with Blackboard to resolve the issue, and courses were made available again at approximately 9:30pm.  (PLEASE NOTE: Students were not affected by this issue.) Our programmer continues to work with Blackboard to determine the cause of the issue.  Please let me know if you have any questions.  Thank you for your patience.

eLearning issues

Blackboard (UTD’s eLearning vendor) uses Amazon Web Services (AWS) to host several services that are integrated into eLearning. Amazon is reporting a major outage that is affecting thousands of web services, including those used in eLearning.  Amazon is working to address the issue ASAP.  Below is a list of services that affect UTD eLearning users.

 

  • Respondus LockDown Browser
  • In-Line Grading of assignments
  • Accessing Collaborate recordings and files (web conferencing)

Turnitin experiencing technical issues

Turnitin just sent out notification that some users are experiencing technical issues. They are looking into the issue and are working to resolve it ASAP.  We’ll send out another notification when we receive additional information from them.  We apologize for the inconvenience.
